Press release writing for a coaching business

Landing magazine coverage and increasing sales

Press release for a coaching business

Client

On The Up Consulting offers strengths-based coaching to help people be their best selves.

Project

Press release writing services to gain coverage in publications.

Audience

The press release was aimed at busy editors of wellbeing and lifestyle magazines. Ultimately, the target audience was people who wanted to focus on what matters in a world of 24/7 distractions.

Goals and challenges

The client had recently published a book and wanted it to reach a wider audience by securing magazine coverage. The aim was to provide expert commentary on topics that would resonate with potential readers, making them excited to buy the book.

The client had never pitched before and didn't know how to approach it. They wanted to connect authentically with readers.

How I helped

We shared ideas for potential topics and publications that would appeal to the target audience. I crafted a set of pitches tailored to each magazine, conveying the topic's value and the client's expertise.

To increase the chances of editors getting in touch, I provided the client with practical guidelines, including contact details and tips.

Outcome

Within 24 hours of pitching, the client received a response from Psychologies magazine asking for an interview. A few months later, the expert commentary was in print. The client noticed an increase in sales of their book after publication. They knew this increase was thanks to the coverage as they noticed people had also searched for other books recommended on that page in the magazine.

Client story

“I felt a sense of reassurance in working with Louise.

I liked how Louise used her understanding of my content and the magazines to align the messaging. It felt authentic and not awkward. If I had pitched, it would have sounded too salesy or naive.

The content and contacts Louise provided gave me confidence that I was sending the right information to the right people in the right way. I liked how Louise tailored each one - it wasn't a blanket press release.

It was a great success, as within 24 hours of sending off my first pitch, I had an email reply from an editor asking for an interview. The interview led to one and a half pages of coverage in a top-selling magazine, where I was featured as an expert. Extracts from my book were highlighted, and my book was recommended to readers.

I would highly recommend Louise's copywriting and pitching services. I am delighted with the results.”
